When it comes to what makes the best bar, everyone seems to have different criteria. Some people love it loud and exciting; I love cozy pubs with a more casual, quiet tone, myself. Some people love drink specials while others are all about the snacks or appetizers. Atmosphere is a big deal to me, and if I don't like the seating or sound of a place I usually don't return. There's a place nearby that serves some of the best drinks I've ever had, for example, but the music is so loud--it's like going to a disco!--that I just don't go there anymore.
According to Time Out, these are the best bars in Seattle, but we all know it's more about personal suggestions and local secrets than big lists. Some of these actually meet that criteria, but it's so much easier asking friends for ideas since they'll have more personal info. My favorite places are usually little hole in the wall type spots and it's nice to find new ones.
