So you're cooking a turkey, and making the stuffing, gravy, side dishes, and a couple of pies.

Here's a nifty video from Chow about the timing; when to start what, what you can do ahead of time, and what to do on the day itself.

The video is part of the really lovely tutorials Chow is offering on Thanksgiving for Beginners. And if that's not enough for you, do check out the Trader Joe's a nifty Turkey Roasting Game Plan (this is a downloadable .pdf) with less beginning-centric, but still interesting recipes and suggestions for preparing the turkey and dinner. The Grocery Outlet has some simply recipes and guidelines for an inexpensive but tasty turkey dinner for about $3.00 a person. (They need a green vegetable though!) And for the vegetarians, here are some vegetarians alternatives to turkey and trimmings.

For those of you who've been-there-and-done-that on Thanksgiving, here are some lovely alternatives. There's Mama Stamberg's Cranberry Relish, from NPR reporter Susan Stamberg (This is lovely, yummy and really easy). I'm kinda interested in this yummy sounding Sweet Potato and Chard Au Gratin. I've been thinking about this Roast Turkey with Wild Mushroom Gravy since I saw the fabulous mushrooms available in the Pacific Northwest.
