Bridgeview Oregon Riesling 2007

Bridgeview has been producing wines in Oregon's Illinois Valley since 1986. They began small with two acres of wine grapes in production for their own consumption, but soon realized that they were creating something special. Since they began producing wine commercially, this small family winery has grown quietly and steadily. They produce their wines and manage their vines using German vineyard traditions, drawing on their German heritage.

Bridgeview produces three tiers of wines, their consumer level Blue Moon white wines and Black Beauty red wines, a selection of middle-tier Premium wines, and a group of Reserve wines. Their varietals include Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Riesling. This particular Bridgeview Oregon Riesling 2007 bottle from their Blue Moon line caught our eyes as we at the grocery store because it's in blue glass. I've noticed several smaller Riesling producers using blue glass; another example is the organic Riesling from Badger Mountain Vineyard, and the Powers winery in Washington's Columbia Valley.

Bridgeview Oregon Riesling 2007 is a slightly dry Riesling; apple and pear, light, and summery. Crisp and faintly acidic; I'll recommend this to my friends who say they like cider and hate wine. I note that this wine has been declared a "Best Buy" by The Wine Spectator and the The Wine Enthusiast, and it won silver medals at the Northwest Wine Summit and the San Francisco Wine Competition
